Title:Aker Kvaerner Wins Big North Sea Contract from BG

Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner has secured a leading role in the continuing operation and development of BG Group's Armada platform, in the North Sea.

The contract, which has a value of at least £9m, will see Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner providing engineering, construction and operational support over the next five years, and the company will play a major role in any possible modification or expansion of Armada's facilities. A number of significant projects are currently at the evaluation stage.
Only three weeks into his new role as Managing Director of Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner, Harald Gulaker says the Armada contract represents a coup for the Aberdeen company:

"This work was previously split into three separate contracts held by our competitors. To have secured the combined package is testament to our wide range of expertise and competitiveness."

"We are coming on board during potentially the most exciting period since Armada began production."
Harald Gulaker was Managing Director of Aker Oil & Gas Technology UK, prior to the merger of the former Aker and Kvaerner groups. The 51 year-old has, since, been President of Aker Kvaerner Field Development in Canada, and he says he's delighted to be back in Aberdeen:

"My role at Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner is almost identical to the one I had at Aker Oil & Gas Technology, so it very much feels as though I'm coming home. The company is in a prime position to take full advantage of North Sea market conditions, and I am confident that this latest contract

Title:Four Arab Countries Sign Deal on Second Phase of Gas Project

Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan on Sunday signed an agreement on the second stage of an Arab gas pipeline project, according to a press release.

Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Obeid, Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Al Utri, Lebanese Prime Minster Rafiq Hariri as well as Jordanian Prime Minister Faisal Al Fayez attended the signing ceremony and they stressed that the gas project would benefit the peoples of the four countries and the whole Middle East region.

"The visit (of the three prime ministers) comes within efforts to achieve Arab economic integration to overcome our economic problems," said Jordanian Prime Minister Al Fayez.

The second stage of the project, which will stretch 390 km from Jordan's southern port of Aqaba to Rahab, a city bordering Jordan and Syria, will carry Egypt's natural gas to Jordan's middle and northern parts.

It will be executed by a union of Egyptian companies at a cost of 350 million Jordan dinars (about 500 million US dollars) and completed by the end of 2005.
The four prime ministers will also tackle the procedures of the third stage of the project, which includes building a gas pipe to Syria, Lebanon and Turkey.

The project is a step to achieve full economic cooperation in the Arab world, according to an Egyptian official.

Last July, natural gas was officially carried from the Egyptian port city of Taba to Jordan's Aqaba through a 16-km pipeline as the first stage of the underwater pipe.

The project is believed to save 500 million dollars for Jordan in the first 10
